4frnt Renegade 2018/2019
Over a decade ago on this ski, Eric Hjorleifson launched his legendary ski career pioneering human powered, big mountain backcountry ascents, followed by now iconic, mind blowing high-speed lines down. This year he’s redesigned the Renegade shape, keeping the same waist width but widening the tip and tail slightly to accommodate a new tighter sidecut and reverse camber radius at 30m instead of previous 35m. This provides more ease in turning and greater control at a wider variety of speeds in deep pow. As Hoji always says, "I just want powder skiing to be easy."
Aspen-maple core

Aspen-Maple Core We started with clear Aspen and Maple stringers running the length of the ski at min/max tolerance of the binding screw hole pattern. To reduce weight, we eliminated the Maple stringers, making the core 100% clear Aspen and then milling a 4mm x 60cm pocket where the min/max of the binding mount will occur and use clear Maple inserts to support the binding retention without adding all the weight. We rely on carbon stringers to support the tip/tail end of the core where the Maple is no longer present. |

Carbon fiber

Carbon Fiber A non-elastic alternative to traditional fiberglass. The carbon runs the length of the ski like a stringer, acting as a springboard of flex, superior to what traditional fiberglass is capable of. Carbon Fiber adds an incredible amount of strength with very little added weight. |

Neotip

Neotip Eliminating deflection, delamination and fractures in the ski tip. These three issues have long plagued the durability of freeride skis due to the abrupt change in snow conditions and tip slap on impact from catching air. The bordering material in a ski tip that joins the core end is most commonly comprised of hard, non-elastic polymers. We began experimentation in our White Room using different grades of Neoprene to withstand the shearing impacts and provide absorption for change in conditions. The result is a dampened feel that calms the ski feel and increases the durability. |

Reflecttech technology

ReflectTech Technology Eric Hjorleifson conceived ReflectTech in order to make rocker and side-cut work together. In the past, full rocker profiles effected a negative impact on the ability of a ski to edge consistently. This effect caused the tips to hook and the tails to wash out with the ski on edge. With ReflectTech, the rocker radius and the side-cut radius match, allowing the ski to edge smoothly, creating predictable carving in all conditions. ReflectTechTM virtually eliminates tip hook. The ski will engage smoothly along it’s entire length, while still giving you the float and pivotability of a fully rockered ski. |

Vibeveil technology

VibeVeil Technology Vibration drastically reduces confidence. The VibeVeil elastic membrane situated in the tips of our rockered skis dramatically reduces chatter and weak edge hold, commonly the result of extended negative radius profiles in ski tips when used in varied to firm snow conditions. All 2015/16 skis featuring VibeVeil have a transparent window logo highlighting the very material used in each ski. |
