In 2009, Arne Backstrom, skier, mountaineer and global ski phenomenon, presented to the Blizzard development team his idea to design and manufacture innovative rocker skis. Gifted athlete, with just as much talent to imagine how engineering and technology can improve the function of a product, he knew that if rocker skis tore into deep powder, they failed to prove themselves in other conditions. His ideas led to the development of Flipcore technology, which revolutionized the way rocker skis were made. Thanks to his vision, Blizzard was able to present one that is today the most popular and best-selling freeride ski collection in the world. In 2010, Arne died prematurely in a tragic skiing accident in a remote region of Peru, the Cordillera Blanca. For the 2019/20 season, we are proud to offer the ski signed Arne in its original version, without any modification.
